One of the top Italian restaurants in the SF. Charming owners Lorella and Massimo work every night to bring you authentic Sardinian cuisine and service. I've had so many fantastic dinners here that I would give it the elusive and exclusive 6th star. Must try if you're visiting or live in the city. The wine list is one of the best around for Italian wines and I've yet to get a bottle that didn't have a great story and reasonably priced. Given that chef/owner Massimo is a sommelier who worked for Winebow, it's not a surprise but the wines are still surprisingly excellent.

Must try dishes: Spaghetti with freshly shaved Bottarga, Wild Boar Stew, Seasonal Soups, brussell sprouts, desserts (esp. house gelato's), pizzas.

Came here for brunch today. Very relaxed, fairly reasonably priced French restaurant. The French bread was a highlight, and my crabcakes with poached eggs on top did the trick. The espresso drinks were pretty much crap and the pain au chocolat which came highly recommended was a mushy mess. If you're in the hood, it's not a bad choice, but otherwise take a hike down to Foreign Cinema.

No lines + killer beans = good times. This place is gonna be more packed than Ritual when it opens it's doors so hit the back alley and enjoy. Looking forward to home roasted beans and Dynamo Donuts.

Back again to sit at the bar tonight. Eric and Isu (sp?) were working the bar in front of me and tonight was the opening night for a sushi roll contest. Best roll gets added to the menu. So first up an asparagus tempura and salmon roll which was crispy and delicious. Next up was a tuna based roll with ponzu sauce and curry mayo. This was fantastic. I finished it off with a Tuna Tataki with ponzu, onions, ginger and garlic.

Ebisu is fresh!  Great sushi, prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is lively.  If you're at loss for what to order, may I  suggest A Family Affair. AFA is a hamachi extravaganza drowned in a creamy rich sauce and cut with sliced crisp onions.  Although it probably breaks international sushi bylaws and has strained the San Francisco-Osaka sister city relationship, A Family Affair is worth it for it breaks new creative ground in the sushi world. The chefs all present the dish with their unique spin so pay attention to who is working their magic for your gustatory pleasure. Sake or asahi are essential accoutrements to wash down this delicacy.

I'm not sure how long Scott will be behind the bar, but for now on any given evening you can find him mixing up some of his inventive cocktail creations.

If you like Gin Cocktails, ask for the Marco Pierre White Lost in Rio.

Although Le Club makes it sounds like a snotty Parisian joint, it couldn't be further from truth. More like old school San Francisco or New York. This is a no jeans kinda joint and they've got a tight dress code.

Classy and even possibly swanky given the right crowd, so go when you want to do it up Sinatra style. Cassidy behind the bar does it proper and makes you feel at home.  Gina, who manages the joint, made our event go smoothly (and we have the same birthday). If you're looking for a classic bar to host an event, this might be your spot.

Back again, this time for lunch with a friend in from London who loves a good meal. The burger is outstanding (do us all a favor and please add to dinner menu), the Fulton Ranch Korean inspired chicken thigh sandwich is tender and delicious, and the calamari is from another planet. I can't remember exactly but I think Daniel told us that it's coated in some rice based... anyhow it's incredible and get it.

This is possibly the best food recommendation I've received all year. Came here after 6 hours at Golden Glass and was blown away by the hospitality, decor and of course the incredible food. The dark wood theme is sexy and cool and perfect for a hot date night.

    What we devoured:
Shitake Mushroom dumplings in a broth.
Calamari with an addictive tartar sauce. Lamb chops with Thai basil pesto, steak, hamachi, okra, chocolate adzuki cupcake and kabocha squash with coconut custard.

This is a destination joint in the Inner Richmond. Must try Korean.

Fantastic donuts and coffee in the Mission. Simple and pure like coffee and donuts should be. Back in the day at the tender age of 8 I would dream of donuts like these while I read my Homer Price books. They use Stumptown Beans for the coffee geeks in the crowd, and will be moving to Four Barrel shortly. Also, they're planning on baking on premises soon.

Farley Bar

Category: Bars

4 star rating

I was surprised to see so many low reviews for Farley's, but after reading them I realized that it's a service issue and primarily a food service issue.

I went to check out Cavallo Point and Farley Bar on Saturday night with some friends. Not knowing what to expect I was impressed with the scenery of Cavallo Point.  It's the old Presidio barracks that have been refurbished into a posh destination hotel/resort. Golf Carts carry you around and the views of SF and the Bay are spectacular.

Now onto Farley Bar. The bar is a throwback to the great yonder SF drinking days and the bar tenders reflect that. Slow service, but great cocktails, because quality takes time when it comes to drinks. I had an Old Fashioned which was well balanced and made with a quality Whiskey but poured into a hot glass. The Farmer's Market which my friend had was a beautiful drink that tasted just like it sounds, in a great way. Strawberry and mint and a lot of other good stuff involved.

We were hoping for a little more eye candy but I think that it might be more of an after dinner scene. Overall, I can't say I would drive across the bridge again just for drinks, but it's good for dinner/drinks. Mostly an older crowd so don't bother bringing your 22yr old secretary here and hope she'll be impressed.

Mono Cone

Mono Cone deserves an honorary "People Love us on Yelp" sticker. Lee Vining, which has a population of around 3, relies on travelers and tourists who pass through town. Since I was a young boy, every time I'm crossing the Sierras I make a point of stopping by the Mono Cone for a burger and shake or cone. They use Black Angus beef and have great soft serve cones, shakes and sundaes. If they started serving beer, they'd get the famous 6th star, but until then, it's just a 5 star establishment.
